The protesters, who carried placards and sang in unity, appealed for urgent government intervention to protect their homes, livelihoods, and heritage.

Addressing the gathering on behalf of the state government, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Pius Alile, commended the demonstrators for conducting themselves peacefully and assured them that their message would be delivered to the Governor.

“I understand your pain and I commend you for coming forward in peace. His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, will be thoroughly briefed on this situation and I can assure you that he will act swiftly and responsibly,” Hon. Alile said.

He urged the communities to remain law-abiding and continue their lawful activities, emphasizing that the state government remains committed to justice, peace, and the protection of all Edo citizens.
