Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has encouraged Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for the September 2024 Edo governorship election, to accept the Court of Appeal’s recent ruling that upheld Governor Monday Okpebholo’s electoral win.

As a key figure in the PDP, Wike urged Ighodalo to prioritize the interests of Edo State over personal or political feelings by honoring the court’s decision for the sake of maintaining peace.

In a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike congratulated Okpebholo on the appellate court’s endorsement and advised him to stay committed to providing effective governance.

He characterized the court’s ruling as a reflection of the wishes of the Edo people and an acknowledgment of the governor’s achievements since taking office.

Wike noted, “I have observed his time in office, and I can confidently say he has been making positive contributions to Edo State and its inhabitants. I believe in his leadership and trust that his administration will have a lasting effect on the state.”

Wike called on all stakeholders to come together in support of the government to foster enduring development in Edo State.
