UPDATE: President Tinubu returns to Abuja after trips to Britain and France

by Tunexreporters

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after a working visit to France and the UK. He was greeted by senior officials from his administration upon his arrival at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday evening.

Presidential aide Dada Olusegun shared the update on his X account, noting Tinubu’s return from his trips to Paris and London.

Among those present to welcome the president were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu; and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, among others. The president had left for Paris on April 2 for a brief working trip, as stated by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, who mentioned that Tinubu would review his administration’s accomplishments during the visit.

However, Tinubu’s travel has sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians, especially amidst renewed violence in states like Plateau and Benue. Opposition leaders, including Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar from the Peoples Democratic Party, openly criticized the president for being abroad during this period of heightened insecurity. In response, the presidency defended Tinubu’s trip, dismissing speculation that he was seeking medical treatment.

Presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala remarked on Channels Television’s Politics Today monitored by Tunexreportes that claims circulating on social media often lack credibility, asserting that the president was on a working visit and that details of his activities had been shared.
