Firstly, I want to congratulate Christians in Edo State and all over the world for the benefit of the celebration of Easter, which is a reminder of the supreme price our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ paid in order to redeem us from eternal damnation, made perfect through his resurrection.
The significance of Easter, therefore, is the necessity of sacrifice and the sharing of love for the sake of others.
As Christians, we are not only to relish the significance of Easter but to follow the example of Jesus, not by laying down our lives, but by giving our life to the service of others and humanity.
In this period, we should reflect on our level of commitment to making the society a better place through goodwill, empathy, philanthropy and service for the common good.
And in all of this, we should not overlook the support for government through prayer and performance of our civic obligations. In this manner I want to particularly urge Edo people to support the government of Sen. Monday Okpebholo and Hon. Dennis Idahosa to deliver on the laudable promises that have begun to see the light of day in the form of tangible projects across the State.
Finally, as you go about celebrating and enjoying the moment, think of the needy around you and try to put a smile on someone’s face by your acts of sacrifice and love.
