Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has declared his intention to run for re-election in the upcoming 2027 general elections. He made this announcement on Sunday during his Eid-el-Fitr address at his residence in Kaduna.
Sani noted that a politician’s decision to run for office is influenced by the prevailing political dynamics. “If the conditions are suitable and the circumstances align, I will seek to contest specifically for the Kaduna Central senatorial district,” he said.
He added that his personal aspirations are secondary to the goal of ensuring the re-election of Governor Uba Sani for a second term. “Our immediate focus is to ensure the current governor, Uba Sani, is re-elected. We are committed to this endeavor, fully aware of the challenges and opposition we might face, yet we are ready to confront all obstacles,” he remarked.
During the celebration, Sani also called on Muslims to pray for peace and unity in Nigeria. He condemned the recent killings of hunters in Edo State and urged security agencies to bring the culprits to justice.
“If citizens cannot travel freely across the country, we are not truly united as a nation. Lawlessness implies a lack of governing authority,” he expressed. He encouraged all Nigerians who seek a better future to strive for peace and unity in order to safeguard democracy, despite the current difficulties faced.
Additionally, Sani urged the government to protect fundamental human rights, emphasizing the right to life as essential for national stability and development.
