The Federal Government has announced Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, as public holidays in observance of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
The minister congratulated Muslims on successfully completing the fasting period during Ramadan and encouraged them to embody the principles of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace. He highlighted the significance of love, forgiveness, and solidarity in fostering a harmonious society.
Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to use this festive time to pray for the country’s peace, stability, and prosperity. He expressed hope that the joyous celebration of Eid-el-Fitr would promote unity and cooperation among different religious and ethnic groups.
Additionally, Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged citizens to celebrate in a safe and responsible manner, while also remembering the less fortunate through acts of kindness and charity, reflecting the true essence of Ramadan and Eid.
On behalf of the Federal Government, he conveyed warm Eid Mubarak wishes to all Muslim faithful and prayed that the blessings of the season would bring joy, success, and fulfillment to everyone, as stated in the announcement.
