Reno Omokri, a former media aide to the president, recently posted an old video on his Facebook page featuring Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan accusing him of sexual harassment. This resurfacing comes shortly after the Kogi senator leveled a similar charge against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The clip, filmed on October 12, 2021, captures Akpoti-Uduaghan making the allegation during her campaign for the Kogi State governorship under the Social Democratic Party (SDP). In the video, she asserts that Omokri harassed her on May 6, 2014, at a state banquet in Aso Rock hosted by former President Goodluck Jonathan for Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.
She challenges Omokri’s claim that he was out of the country during that time and urges the Nigerian Immigration Service to investigate his assertions. In response, Omokri contends that he was sent to the United States by President Jonathan as a special envoy to help rehabilitate Nigeria’s image following the Chibok girls incident. He insists he was not in Nigeria during the alleged incident, calling Akpoti-Uduaghan’s statement a lie.
Omokri claims that once he presented evidence to the press, Akpoti-Uduaghan removed all traces of her accusations, including a video in which she insulted him, his wife, and their newborn daughter.
