The Court of Appeal in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, has affirmed the death sentence of renowned hotelier Dr. Ramon Adedoyin, who was convicted in the murder of Timothy Adegoke, a former Master’s student at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife.
In its ruling on Thursday, the appellate court confirmed that the Osun State High Court’s decision to sentence Adedoyin to death remains in effect.
The appeal court had postponed its ruling until October 29, 2024.
The verdict stated, “The judgment of the High Court of Osun State stands. Adedoyin’s appeal is dismissed in part. The Court of Appeal determined that Adedoyin was correctly convicted and sentenced to death.”
Additionally, the court mentioned that the “Order of forfeiture of Hilton Hotel has been quashed and set aside. The order for educational funding for Timothy Adegoke’s children by Adedoyin and others has also been quashed and set aside.”
Adegoke was discovered dead in November 2021 at Adedoyin’s Hilton Honours Hotel in Ile-Ife, where he had been staying.
