Two Vice Presidents of Living Faith Church Worldwide, commonly referred to as Winners Chapel, Bishops David Abioye and Thomas Aremu, are set to retire in October 2024, according to reports monitored by Tunexreportes.
Bishop Aremu’s farewell service is planned for Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Living Faith Church in Basorun, Ibadan, Oyo State, while Bishop Abioye’s farewell ceremony will take place on Friday, October 18, in Durumi, Abuja.
Abioye became acquainted with the church’s founder, Bishop David Oyedepo, in 1979 and has been a key figure in the ministry since its beginnings. He was among the original pastors and led one of the first five branches established in 1987. In 1993, he became the youngest bishop in the church’s history at the age of 32 when he was consecrated at the Garden of Faith in Barnawa, Kaduna.
Aremu transitioned from a career in accounting to full-time ministry and has played a crucial role in the church’s expansion. He is the only one of the seven bishops consecrated in November 1999 still actively serving, earning significant respect within the congregation.
This retirement event represents a notable milestone for Living Faith Church, marking the first public celebration of pastoral retirements. The revised Mandate has changed the retirement age from 60 to 58. While Bishop Oyedepo still has the option for lifelong service, future leaders of the church will be restricted to either one or two seven-year terms, subject to approval by the Board of Trustees.
