Malami Admits Receiving EFCC Notice, Assures He Will Honour the Call

by Tunexreporters

Abubakar Malami, who served as Nigeria’s Attorney-General and Minister of Justice from 2015 to 2023 under former President Muhammadu Buhari, is once again in the spotlight. During his eight-year tenure, he was involved in several high-stakes legal matters, ranging from major asset recovery efforts and anti-corruption initiatives to controversial government actions that drew widespread national and international scrutiny.

Malami played key roles in cases linked to significant financial crimes, high-value arbitration disputes, and critical governance reforms. However, in the later years of his service, he came under public criticism over questions surrounding asset declarations, contract approvals, and the handling of recovered funds—allegations he repeatedly refuted.

As at press time, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has yet to disclose details about the nature or extent of its invitation to the former attorney-general.
