Troops of the Nigerian Army have launched a series of coordinated, intelligence-led operations across multiple regions of the country, targeting criminal hideouts and terror enclaves.
In a statement released on the Army Headquarters’ official X handle on Sunday, the military disclosed that the operations, conducted between October 8 and 11, 2025, resulted in the neutralisation of 26 terrorists and other criminal elements, the arrest of 22 suspects, and the rescue of five kidnapped victims. Several arms, ammunition, and logistics items were also recovered.
South East:
In the South East, troops of Sector 2, Operation UDO KA, neutralised a notorious IPOB/ESN commander known as Alhaji at his hideout in Ezza-Eyimaggu, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. The militant was eliminated after attempting to disarm a soldier during his arrest. Troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade also discovered and destroyed an IPOB/ESN indoctrination shrine in Mbaotoli LGA, Imo State.
North East:
In Borno State, troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gajiram, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, engaged ISWAP/JAS terrorists along the Gajiram–Bolori–Mile 40–Gajiganna Road, killing four and rescuing two hostages. They also recovered ₦4.3 million and mobile phones seized by the insurgents. Similarly, troops of the 109 Special Forces Battalion neutralised five terrorists in Magumeri and recovered weapons and ammunition.
Three ISWAP/JAS fighters later surrendered to troops in Monguno, citing exhaustion and disillusionment, while coordinated airstrikes under Operation FANSAN YAMMA decimated terrorist strongholds in Isa LGA, Sokoto State.
North West:
In Zamfara State, troops of 8 Division Garrison intercepted couriers transporting hard drugs and motorcycle parts from Lagos. The suspects were handed over to the DSS for investigation. Troops from 1 Brigade also rescued abducted victims and neutralised bandits in Anka LGA.
North Central:
Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE carried out successful raids in Benue and Nasarawa States, arresting suspected kidnappers and recovering arms and charms. Similarly, in Plateau State, troops under Operation ENDURING PEACE foiled a cattle rustling attempt and arrested drug peddlers.
South South:
In Rivers State, troops of Sector 3, Operation DELTA SAFE, engaged cultists, neutralising two and arresting one suspect while recovering weapons and motorcycles. In Edo State, troops of 4 Brigade rescued a kidnapped victim in Esan South East LGA and recovered the victim’s vehicle.
Overall, the Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring national security and creating an environment conducive to economic growth and food security, in line with the Federal Government’s agenda.
