The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in 20 out of 23 local government areas in Saturday’s Chairmanship and Councillorship elections in Rivers State.
The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state managed to win only three LGAs in the exercise conducted by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).
Notably, Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s home LGA, Opobo-Nkoro, was clinched by the APC.
Announcing the results on Sunday at the commission’s headquarters along Aba Road, Port Harcourt, RSIEC Chairman, Dr. Michael Odey, declared the APC as the dominant winner of the polls.
