Arsenal enjoyed a dominant 5-0 win over Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, with Viktor Gyökeres and Jurrien Timber both scoring twice.
Timber opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a precise header from Declan Rice’s corner before Gyökeres — signed from Sporting Lisbon in July for £55 million — netted his long-awaited first Premier League goal just after the break. The Swedish striker later converted a penalty won by teenage debutant Max Dowman to seal his brace.
Timber struck again from another set piece, capping off a commanding display by Mikel Arteta’s men.
However, the emphatic victory was marred by injuries to captain Martin Ødegaard and winger Bukayo Saka, who were both forced off, slightly dampening an otherwise perfect home opener.
