Ali Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has taken over from Abdullahi Ganduje as the party’s National Chairman.
This change follows Ganduje’s resignation on Thursday, which was effective immediately to allow him to focus on pressing personal matters, as stated by APC spokesman Felix Morka. In his resignation letter to the National Working Committee (NWC), Ganduje expressed his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to lead the party at such a high level.
Morka noted that Tinubu has instructed Dalori to serve as Acting National Chairman until the National Executive Committee (NEC) convenes to officially address the vacancy created by Ganduje’s departure. Ganduje, who led the party since August 2023 after succeeding Abdullahi Adamu, faced opposition during his tenure from those who felt his appointment contradicted the party’s internal zoning policies.
He was the Governor of Kano from May 2015 to May 2023 and was appointed by Tinubu in January 2025 as the Board Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). There are also reports of him being considered for a non-career ambassadorial position.
