President Bola Tinubu has postponed his official visit to Kaduna State and will instead head to Benue State on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, as part of renewed initiatives to promote peace and tackle the ongoing conflicts affecting local communities.
Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, announced this change in a statement released on Monday.
“The purpose of the President’s visit is to gain a direct understanding of the ongoing crises that have led to numerous fatalities and widespread destruction,” Onanuga explained.
Originally, Tinubu was set to visit Kaduna State on Wednesday to inaugurate several state government projects, but this visit will now take place on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
While in Benue, Tinubu plans to engage with various stakeholders such as traditional leaders, political and religious figures, community leaders, and youth groups to find enduring solutions to the ongoing violence.
“In anticipation of the visit, President Tinubu has already sent the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, heads of intelligence agencies, the National Security Adviser, and the Chairpersons of the Senate and House Defense Committees to Benue State.
“The President is expected to conduct a town hall meeting with stakeholders during his visit,” the statement indicated.
Tinubu has previously denounced the violence in Benue State and urged all leaders and residents to foster peace, love, and understanding. He also expressed his condolences to the families affected by the crisis.
