New data from the Transmission Company of Nigeria shows that power generation reached 5,713.60 megawatts on Tuesday, marking the highest level achieved since 2021.

This new figure indicates a significant increase over the previous generation total of 5,543MW recorded on February 14.

The TCN reported that all of the 5,713MW generated on Tuesday was successfully transmitted.

“On March 4, 2025, at 21:30 hours, we hit a new generation peak of 5,713.60 megawatts (MW), exceeding the earlier peak of 5,543.20MW from February 14, 2025, by 170.40 MW,” stated the TCN.

It noted that this peak is still 88MW shy of the all-time high of 5,801.60MW reached on March 1, 2021, but it is nonetheless a significant milestone.

Additionally, the maximum daily energy output increased to 125,542.06 megawatt-hours, up from last month’s total of 125,159.48MWh.

“The maximum daily energy record in Nigeria’s electricity sector was also broken yesterday, reaching 125,542.06 MWh, surpassing the previous record of 125,159.48 MWh set on February 14, 2025, by 382.58 MWh,” the statement concluded.
