Familiarisation visit by Edo State Sports Commission, Edo South Senatorial District, Edo State Council to Prepare and develop the spirit of sportsmanship in Egor LGA.
Edo State Sport Council Commission, led by its Executive Director, Edo South Senatorial District, Hon. Baldwin Bazuaye and its Zonal Coordinator, Edo State Senatorial District, Edo State Sport Council, Mrs. Doris Omoragbon with its members paid a scheduled familiarisation visit to Egor Local Government and were received by the Secretary to Egor Local Government, Hon. Zion O. Evbuomwan and other EXCO members on behalf of Egor LG Chairman, Hon (Dr.) Eguakun Ighodaro Kelvin who went on other official assignment.
The Head of Social Department, Mrs. Doris Iyobosa Oronsaye introduced EXCO members present who include Vice Chairman, Egor Local Government, Hon. Preston Eghe Amayo; Speaker (Leader) Hon. Nosa Izevbuwa, Majority Leader, Hon. Stella Ogida; HOLGA, Mrs. Oboh Evbu Amenaghawon; and Chief Press Secretary, Mr. George Enofe. Immediately, the PRO of the Sport Council who came visiting, Mr. … introduced their members one after the other as well to the house.
Hon. Baldwin Bazuaye appreciated Egor LG for the warmth welcome granted them and he said they were in the local government on courtesy visit to appeal for collaboration with the Edo State sport Council towards preparing and developing sporting activities ahead of Local Governments Sports Festival coming up before April, 2025 and Edo State Sports Festival coming up in April, 2025 as well as National Sports Festival coming up in May, 2025. He further appealed to Egor LG to collaborate and support the Sport Council during the grassroots sportsmanship competition as the commission cannot do it alone hence the need for collaboration.
Secretary to the local government, Hon. Zion O. Evbuomwan who spoke on behalf of the Chairman appreciated the Edo State Sports Commission for the idea of bringing youths together in sportsmanship with a promise that Egor LG will be ready to collaborate and support the commission in realising the dream go as Egor LG was prepared to come first in all the sporting activities.
Egor LG Vice chairman requested that the commission expand its sporting activities to include privileged and less privileged youths in the local government. Immediately, the commission stated that it will cover 36 sporting activities in the programme as elaborated by the Zonal Coordinator, Mrs. Doris Omoragbon
It was resolved that selection of star winners will be made by the commission at the local governments level and State level that will represent Edo State at the National Sports Festival coming soon. Egor LG assured the sport Council of collaborating support as it receives details on area of expected support.
