On Monday, Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo officially appointed six new commissioners, the Chairman of the State Universal Education Board (SUBEB), as well as the Chairmen and members of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC), the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC), and the State Secondary Education Board (SSEB).
During the ceremony at the New Festival Hall in Government House, Governor Okpebholo urged the new appointees to contribute to the state’s development and progress, emphasizing that his administration is eager to implement changes.
Highlighting the distinct qualifications of those sworn in, he affirmed their alignment with his administration’s commitment to promoting good governance, efficient service delivery, and fulfilling the promises made to Edo State residents.
Governor Okpebholo remarked: “Congratulations to the newly appointed executives. This role is not only an honor but a call to serve with commitment, integrity, and excellence. You were selected for your skills and the confidence we have in you to positively impact our State’s development.
“I urge you to collaborate with a shared purpose, emphasize teamwork, and focus on enhancing the lives of our citizens. Together, we can make Edo State a benchmark for growth and success.”
Onomen Goodness Briggs is the new Chairman of SUBEB, with the new Commissioners including Sir Lucky Eseigbe, Hon. Paul Nosayaba Ohonbamu, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, Hon. Dr. Washington Osa Osifo, Mr. Andrew Ijegbai, and Barr. Marie Olabisi Idaomi. Their specific portfolios will be announced at a later date.
Additionally, Jonathan Aifuobhokhan was sworn in as Chairman of EDSIEC, Francis Osaretin Osabuohien as Chairman of EDSOGPADEC, and Omozane Ebanehita Sonia as Chairman of SSEB.
On behalf of their peers, Hon. Paul Ohobamu expressed gratitude to the Governor for their appointments and assured him of their commitment to providing good and effective governance for the people of Edo State.
