U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that Iran and Israel have reached an agreement for a ceasefire following nearly two weeks of intense conflict between the two nations.
Trump announced on his Truth Social platform that both nations had consented to a “complete and total ceasefire.”
He indicated that the ceasefire is expected to commence at midnight local time, although Iran and Israel have not yet confirmed a definitive agreement.
However, Iran claimed that its military actions “to retaliate against Israel’s aggression continued until the very last minute, at 4 am.”
Trump expressed: “Congratulations to everyone! Israel and Iran have fully agreed to a complete and total ceasefire.”
He noted that the ceasefire would start “in approximately six hours” after both countries have “wound down” their military activities, resulting in the conclusion of the conflict.
Trump specified that “officially, Iran will initiate the ceasefire, and at the twelfth hour, Israel will follow suit.”
He mentioned that “within 24 hours, the official end of the 12-day war will be recognized globally.”
The U.S. president praised both nations for their bravery in ending the devastating conflict.
“During each ceasefire, the opposing side will remain peaceful and respectful,” Trump wrote.
“Assuming everything goes as planned, which it will, I congratulate both nations for displaying the stamina, courage, and intelligence to conclude what should be termed ‘the 12-day war.'”
He emphasized that the ongoing war could have wreaked havoc across the Middle East had it continued.
“This is a war that could have lasted for years and devastated the entire region, but it didn’t, and it never will!”
Trump concluded with a blessing: “God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and God bless the world!”
In response, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Araghchi remarked, “As of now, there is NO ‘agreement’ on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations.
“However, if the Israeli regime halts its illegal aggression against the Iranian people by 4 am Tehran time, we do not intend to continue our response thereafter.”
