Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has publicly expressed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is unprepared for the 2027 elections.
He emphasized that the PDP lacks a strong enough structure to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in that election. Wike made these remarks during a live media event in Abuja on Friday.
Reports indicate that opposition leaders nationwide are working to create a united front against the APC. However, conflicting interests among major stakeholders have hindered coalition discussions.
During the media event, Wike remarked, “The PDP is clearly not ready for the 2027 election. It’s like preparing for an exam without actually studying. You might appear to be going to class, but that doesn’t mean you’re learning. This reflects the current state of the PDP. They cannot genuinely claim they are ready for 2027. Internal power struggles will not benefit the party.”
