The Supreme Court has overturned the Court of Appeal’s decision in Abuja that recognized Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).
In a unanimous ruling on Friday, a five-member panel of the Supreme Court stated that the Court of Appeal did not have the jurisdiction to declare Abure as National Chairman, given that it previously determined the case pertained to the party’s leadership.
The Supreme Court accepted the appeal brought by Senator Esther Nenadi Usman and another party, deeming it valid. Additionally, it dismissed the cross-appeal from Abure’s faction of the LP as unfounded.
