Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially withdrawn from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), blaming unending national-level leadership crises for his decision.
Adeleke made the announcement late Monday via his Instagram page, confirming that he submitted his resignation on November 4, 2025, to party leaders in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government.
In his statement, he wrote:
“Due to the persistent crisis within the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, I formally submitted my resignation as a member of the party to its leadership in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government on November 4, 2025.
“I appreciate the party, its members, and supporters for the opportunities granted to me—from serving as a Senator of the Federal Republic to becoming the Governor of Osun State.” Before his resignation became public, PDP officials in Osun had hinted that Adeleke might not seek the party’s ticket for the 2026 governorship election unless the internal disputes were resolved.
The state leadership expressed optimism that a settlement—one recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)—could convince the governor to remain within the fold.
However, with the crisis unresolved and timelines for the Osun governorship poll approaching, the speculation has now been confirmed by Adeleke’s exit.
