The Ogbakha-Edo Indigenous Peoples Welfare Foundation has announced plans to organise and institutionalize the Oba Erediauwa Memorial Coronation Lecture Series as a permanent feature of the annual Oba Ewuare II Coronation Anniversary celebrations, beginning October 20, 2026.

This was contained in a birthday and 9th Coronation Anniversary message to the Benin Monarch, signed by Prof. Sam Guobadia and Dr. Andrew O. Izekor, Chairman and General Secretary of Ogbakha-Edo, respectively.

The organisation said the lecture series will serve as an enduring intellectual and cultural platform to honour the legacies of Oba Erediauwa and His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, CFR. It will also promote scholarly engagement and public discourse on Edo civilization, traditional leadership, and moral values — in line with the monarch’s vision of cultural renaissance and unity among the Edo people.

Ogbakha-Edo described the initiative as “a tribute to royal wisdom and an institutional contribution to the intellectual and moral advancement of the Benin Kingdom.”

They noted that since ascending the ancient throne of his forefathers nine years ago, Oba Ewuare II has ushered in “a new era of honour, dignity, and progressive transformation” in the Benin Kingdom, earning the admiration of his subjects at home and abroad.

While felicitating the monarch on the occasion of his birthday and 9th Coronation Anniversary, Ogbakha-Edo expressed profound gratitude for a reign marked by peace, cultural revival, and visionary leadership.

“We reaffirm our unwavering loyalty to the Royal Throne and our commitment to the continued advancement of the Benin Kingdom,” the statement said. “We pray for His Majesty’s long life, divine health, and enduring accomplishments.”
